After a long year of school, it is always a great idea to give your child’s teacher a little “Thank You” gift for everything they have done. And, one of the best ways to show your appreciation is to make the gift yourself! We have a super fun idea for you to try as this year wraps up and we soon say goodbye to the teachers and hello to summer.
We always love when a new seasonal box comes around and you get the opportunity once again to explore the new oils and products. Using all of the items on their own is a great way to get some amazing benefits and really see what they are like. But, of course, it can be really fun to create some new projects or recipes with the box contents as well. So, here are a few ideas to get you started with your summer box.
Pinch off a piece of the clay and roll it with your pin to about ¼” thick.
Cut your shapes using your cutters, press down on the clay to get the shapes you want.
If using flowers/leaves, press them into the clay to create impressions. Use your tools to accentuate the edges for a defined design. If you are not using them, create flowers or leaves in your clay using your tools.
Let the clay dry. Most air dry clays take 24 to 48 hours. Place them in a sunlit window for a faster drying time.
Place the small clay diffuser wherever you want and add a few drops of Secret Garden to scent your homemade floral oil diffuser.
Gently pour the alcohol into the bottle and add in the Essential Oils. Swirl to mix then add in the water. Close the sprayer and spritz as desired for a good feeling whenever you need it.
Easter crafts are so fun! The themes of the season can be cute baby animals like chicks and bunnies, or pastel shapes like eggs and baskets. Now comes the big question – which essential oils should you use for headache management? If you were to consult the experts, you’d probably get a few different answers as to which are the best. This is because different essential oils can be used for different types of headaches.
For example, the protocol for a headache related to sinuses would be different from a tension headache. That’s why determining the root cause of your headache is a good idea.
Below, we’re going to share some of our favorite products and explain which types of headaches they work best for. We’ll start with one of our favorites: peppermint oil.
Many studies have been done to prove that Peppermint Essential Oil is an effective alternative therapy for alleviating headaches.
The instant cooling feeling that comes from this fresh oil helps soothe pain on the spot. In addition, Peppermint has been shown to smooth muscle contraction which eases pain because the muscle is not tightening.
This incredible oil will also help stimulate blood flow which really helps ease tension in the temples and base of the head. When applied topically, Peppermint oil works very quickly. One study showed it lessened the severity of the head pain in less than 15 minutes!
This wonderful herbal oil is well known for its pain-relieving abilities. Used for hundreds of years in folk medicine, Rosemary Essential Oil has been relied upon for calming inflammation, increased alertness, and easing discomfort.
Rosemary is also very stimulating and great for circulation. When you have a headache, it can actually encourage blood vessels to open and aid in moving it along.
The key to utilizing Lavender oil when you have a headache is to help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, thus calming tension headaches.
Lavender has proven to relax the central nervous system and increase serotonin levels to help improve your mood.
This is also an incredible choice for those that suffer from migraines. It is known that one of the common triggers for migraines is disrupted sleep patterns.
Lavender oil is an excellent aid for improving sleep quality. This could be very beneficial in maintaining healthy sleep patterns which may keep migraine sufferers free from attacks.
Lastly, in one reassuring study, it was found that inhaling Lavender Essential Oil for 15 minutes could reduce migraine pain in the early stages. Additionally, topical application of Lavender oil has been shown in studies to reduce pain as well.
If you suffer from headaches caused by sinus issues, then Eucalyptus is the oil for you. This amazingly fresh oil can encourage airways to open up and relieve pressure, so it can naturally help to ease head pain.
In addition, one study showed how just inhaling Eucalyptus Essential Oil, reduced pain and promoted emotional stability.
The strong anti-inflammatory effects of Eucalyptus are perfect for alleviating pain in general, but when it comes to headaches, it can really be a pain stopper.
A useful study proved that using Eucalyptus together with Peppermint oil applied topically to the forehead and temples reduced sensitivity during headaches.
“Headache Relief” is on its way, with this expertly crafted, ready-to-use blend from REVIVE. Offered as a roll-on for immediate topical use or an undiluted oil, this synergy is the perfect mix of all of the best headache-fighting oils.
Combining all of the Essential Oils discussed in this article with Hyssop oil (for added pain relief), it is a superior head pain killer. This blend can help soothe head and neck tension as well as provide respiratory support.
When using the pure Essential Oil blend, you could easily add 4-5 drops in your essential oil diffuser when you begin to feel the headache to help aromatically combat the pain.
Alternatively, you could use the Headache Relief Roller and apply it topically. It will instantly provide that cooling relief and then go straight to the pain to start fighting it right away.
Headaches can be incredibly debilitating. As your head is hurting, throbbing, and pounding, you’ll find yourself trying anything to find relief. Is it possible to treat, or even prevent, headaches using essential oils? Today, we’re going to address this common question.
It is impossible to focus, let alone accomplish anything in that condition. Whether it was triggered by tension, sinuses, or stress, you need to do whatever you can do to get better and get your day back on track.
Preventing headaches from happening in the first place would be ideal. Drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and keeping stress levels under control, can all help keep dreaded head pain away.
But if they still tend to sneak up, essential oils can be a great natural solution to this problem. Plus, they can even alleviate pain quicker than most over-the-counter medicine.
Finding the right oils that help reduce stress, soothe pain, and increase circulation is important to encourage the head discomfort to go away.
Can Essential Oils Be Used For Headache Relief?
Yes – certain essential oils have healing properties that could prove helpful in eliminating headaches. If you think about what causes tension headaches, it’s usually inflammation. And as you might already know, essential oils have anti-inflammatory properties.
The key, however, is in using the right essential oils. While just about every oil has some healing benefits, only a few will prove worthy of using when it comes to headache relief. Today, we’re going to explain which ones we recommend.
First, though, be sure the cause of your headache isn’t something simple like dehydration. If you aren’t getting enough water daily, you’ll end up with a headache with or without essential oils.
How To Actually Use Essential Oils For Headaches
In a pinch and don’t own Headache Relief yet? If you have the individual oils we listed above, then you can concoct your own blend and start feeling better ASAP!
Just be sure you have carrier oil on hand because applying these hot oils on their own could end up burning your skin. Here is a sample recipe you can follow:
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. Massage the blend onto your temples and forehead when a headache strikes.
If you suffer from frequent tension headaches or migraines, you would be wise to produce a larger batch of this and keep it on hand. That way, the next time you feel one coming on, you’re ahead of the curve and can stop it before it stops you.

Essential oils may be able to help you or your partner become more fertile and increase the chances of pregnancy – but the specific essential oils in which each of you should use may differ.
That’s because men & women’s infertility problems are not the same – for women, it may be an issue with estrogen, or with your eggs. For men, it could be sperm count or testosterone levels.
Either way, we will have a section for our essential oil recommendations for women followed by a separate section of essential oil recommendations for men. Let’s not waste any more time!
Essential Oils For Women’s Infertility
If you’re a woman struggling with infertility, consider using the following essential oils. These are shown to help with balancing your hormones, increasing estrogen, and more.
If you pair these with the essential oils we’ll share for your male partner later on, there is a good chance your woes will cease!
Geranium is a wonderful essential oil for balance in all aspects. It can be very helpful when it comes to balancing female hormones.
Oftentimes, the reason women are having difficulty conceiving is because of hormonal imbalance. Geranium Essential Oil supports the adrenal cortex which encourages the release of regular estrogen levels.
This could help regulate menstrual phases, ease PMS, and may even give relief to uterine problems. In addition, Geranium is an amazing oil for stress and anxiety which is often another issue that arises when you are having a hard time getting pregnant.
It can provide a calming yet uplifting effect when you are feeling down. Lastly, Geranium oil can even be used as an aphrodisiac by promoting feelings of intimacy and sexuality creating a bond between the two people. This oil can be a great addition to a couple’s massage.
This herbal essential oil is incredible at balancing estrogen production. Many fertility issues stem from estrogen levels not being ideal such as PCOS and endometriosis.
Also, it is common for infertility to come from thyroid levels being off. Clary Sage Essential Oil can aid in regulating thyroid hormones. In studies, this fantastic female oil has proven to reduce cortisol levels by 36% and improve TSH levels.
It is also great for improving mood by combatting depression and stress. One study found a direct link between high-stress levels to the ability to get pregnant. Women with the higher levels of the stress enzyme, alpha-amylase were twice as likely to be infertile.
So, because Clary Sage is beneficial for both hormones and for stress, it is a perfect choice for a woman when trying to conceive. Adding Lavender Essential Oil to Clary Sage could be even better because of its ability to calm and balance as well.
Normal progesterone levels are also very important when you need your body in prime shape to start a family.
Thyme Essential Oil has high levels of Phyto progestins (plant-based progesterone) proven to naturally balance progesterone levels which is incredibly helpful for both men and women.
One study showed that the use of Thyme oil reduced the number and size of ovarian cysts for women dealing with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
This can be advantageous for women who suffer from PCOS and are having difficulty conceiving due to cysts on the ovaries.
Fennel Oil is helpful for women trying to increase fertility for two reasons. First, it is phytoestrogenic meaning it can mimic estrogen in the body at low levels which can encourage hormonal balance and may help promote menstruation.
Second, it has shown in some preliminary studies that it may help increase the number of ovarian follicles which help release the egg.
This is good news for women who may not always release an egg each month or for those that are reaching advanced maternal age.
In addition, recent research has shown that the chemical components of Fennel oil might help reduce pain during heavy periods.
Perhaps you are a woman that’s fertile as can be – and you aren’t the problem when it comes to conceiving.
If you and your male partner believe they might be the one who is infertile, you can try using the following essential oils to increase their fertility levels!
Low testosterone is a common reason for men to have infertility issues. Even though there are not a lot of scientific studies to back it up, Sandalwood Essential Oil is said to help boost testosterone levels.
This could be beneficial for men with a low sperm count. What we do know for sure is that Sandalwood is amazing at helping fight stress and encourage more sleep which is super helpful when trying to maintain good levels of testosterone.
In addition, this soft and sensuous oil is the perfect choice for a couple’s massage as it is known to be an incredible aphrodisiac for men and can improve low libido.
This grounding oil is outstanding for calming the mind, helping discourage fear, and relaxing the body. All of these things are important when preparing yourself to have a baby.
Frankincense can absolutely aid in reducing the stress that comes with worrying about the pressure you may be under.
On top of that, animal studies have shown that Frankincense just might be helpful in improving sperm mobility and density.
Experts think this may be because of Frankincense’s ability to increase the hormones of spermatogenesis in the pituitary gland. More research is needed, but in the meantime, it can’t hurt to use this spectacular oil.

How To Use Essential Oils To Help You Quit Smoking
Which Essential Oils Can Help You Quit Smoking?
Want to use essential oils to stop smoking?
You now know it’s possible – but choosing the right ones is key.
To make sure you are set up for success, grab all the ones we recommend below. You may find after time that you prefer some to others, but at least you’ll be equipped with all the tools you’ll need for this battle.
These will help you put the cigarettes down while also helping you manage the withdrawal symptoms. Let’s start with one of our favorites – Black Pepper.
Because nicotine stimulates the respiratory system when inhaled, Black Pepper Essential Oil can be used as a replacement.
Constituents of Black Pepper create a sensation in the chest aiding in reducing withdrawal symptoms. In one study, reported craving for cigarettes was significantly reduced after puffing on a cartridge containing Black Pepper Oil vs. menthol oil or no oil at all.
In addition, Black Pepper Oil provides a warming sensation in the lungs mimicking nicotine. Black Pepper may also be useful for quitting because it promotes mental stimulation, drives away anxious feelings, and is a powerful antioxidant.
Coming in a close second, Angelica Oil proved to be nearly as effective as Black Pepper Essential Oil in one study performed on college students.
During nicotine withdrawals, students inhaled tissue paper that had these oils dropped onto them. Angelica Essential Oil was reported to be great for delaying that next cigarette craving.
This aromatic oil provides stimulation to the lungs and sinuses which may feel similar to how your body reacts while smoking. It is also beneficial that Angelica is incredibly calming. This oil can be helpful in reducing feelings of irritability and bring emotional release when needed most.
For thousands of years, Lavender Essential Oil has been known as a natural remedy for stress and anxiety.
Because of this, a study of 60 smokers was conducted in an attempt to prove the efficacy of this oil in calming the minds of anxious smokers.
During withdrawals, the Lavender group inhaled the Essential Oil administered through a mask while the other groups received a placebo or nicotine replacement.
The results of the Lavender group were lowered blood pressure and heart rate, as well as a reported decrease in cravings and anxiety. This is great news, and it once again proves that Lavender Oil is a wonderful stress reliever.
Unfortunately, when you quit smoking, you may experience some serious withdrawal symptoms including headaches, nausea, and lack of energy.
This is where Peppermint Oil comes in. This fresh and fragrant oil is incredible for giving you a boost when you need it. It is also great for promoting circulation and can be useful for eliminating tension in the head and neck.
Quitting smoking can be one of the hardest things you ever do. It is said that on average, smokers attempt to quit nearly 30 times before successfully giving up nicotine!
This incredibly addictive substance results in 480,000 deaths per year, so it is understandable why someone may try over and over again to finally rid their lives of this drug.
There are many different ways people attempt to quit utilizing aids such as hypnosis, nicotine replacement therapy, counseling, medication, or just going cold turkey.
A great thing to know is that no matter how you choose to quit, Essential Oils are a great complementary therapy that can be used with other methods to boost your chances of quitting for good.

What Are The Best Essential Oils To Use For Anti Aging?
The following essential oil products definitely have a place in your skincare regimen – but which ones you end up choosing will ultimately depend on what you want for your skin.
At the end of this guide, we’ll share a blend you can formulate using some of the following oils. We’ll also share an easy-to-use product that might be worth looking at if you don’t want to go through the hassle of creating blends yourself.
First – we want to start with one of the best out there – carrot seed oil.
Okay, so you may not have heard about this lesser-known essential oil, but maybe you’re familiar with the benefits vitamin C offers for aging skin?
Those expensive serums, masks, and exfoliators that promise brighter skin are a store-bought option, but why not use your oils?
Carrot seed essential oil contains considerable amounts of both vitamin C and vitamin A: two incredible ingredients for skin support.
In addition, carrot oil has carotenoids that fight inflammation and improve skin tone. It is a powerful antioxidant that combats free radicals that cause cell damage.
All together, these components lead to essential oil that improves moisture, rejuvenates dull skin, and promotes cell turnover.
One important note on Carrot Seed Oil is that it does not smell the best aromatically, so it is definitely recommended to combine it with another Essential Oil from the list below.
In contrast to Carrot Seed Oil, Rose Oil smells divine! This strongly scented floral oil is a perfect match for toning down the smell of carrot.
Plus, a little goes a long way. This highly valuable oil is wonderful for mature skin as it promotes an even skin tone by fighting inflammation, boosting moisture maintenance, and reducing puffy or red skin.
Rose Essential Oil has also proven to be another spectacular antioxidant thus offering treatment for preventing skin damage. Lastly, in knowing that Rose Oil is great for improving estrogen levels during menopause, it could also help bring back that youthful glow.
This prized Essential Oil is wonderful for skin in general but can be especially helpful when with facial anti-aging.
Frankincense has proven to promote healthy tissue growth and help prevent scarring. It stimulates the production of elastin and collagen which really negates the formation of wrinkles.
Frankincense is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant, but one of the best therapeutic benefits is that it is a cicatrisant. This means that it can actually help encourage skin cell renewal which rejuvenates the skin!
Some preliminary studies have shown compounds in frankincense oil to be effective at fighting some cancers, so adding this oil to your skincare routine may aid in skin cancer prevention to boot.
One major reason skin begins to age prematurely is dryness. You must maintain proper moisture. This is where Sandalwood Essential Oil comes in.
It also encourages healthy blood circulation which keeps skin fresh and smooth. Boasting anti-inflammatory properties, Sandalwood may also reduce undesired puffiness as well.
Carrier Oils
A very important part of creating an anti-aging essential oil blend for your face is to consider the benefits that the carrier oil adds to your final product.
The carrier, or base oil for your essential oils, contains many components that are just as valuable. Knowing what type of skin you have and what outcome you are looking for will help in choosing the right carrier oil for you.
This oil is a super moisturizer, so if you suffer from dry skin, add this one to your regime. Rich in GLA (Omega 6) fatty acids, Evening Primrose reduces inflammation and leaves skin nourished.
This carrier oil promotes healthy skin structure and improves elasticity. Evening Primrose Oil is best when used as only a portion of your base oil, about 10-30% of your final product is ideal.
Are you sensing a trend here? Yes, it seems all types of rose-related flowers are great for mature skin! Rosehip Seed Oil is full of Omegas 3, 6, and 9, plus it contains Vitamins E and A which all aid in collagen and elastin production.
It is also a great antioxidant and it aids in tissue regeneration. It is recommended to keep it at about 20-25% of the total base oil.
Pomegranate Seed Oil is ultra-nourishing and conditioning. The polyphenol antioxidant content is wonderful for aging, mature, or damaged skin.
It also contains Omega 5 which penetrates deeply and helps brighten, tone and produce hydrated skin. Pomegranate Seed Oil is also relatively light and scentless, so it’s a great add-on carrier oil.
This luxurious oil is great for all skin types, but especially sensitive and aging skin. Argan Oil helps to restore dull complexions and diminish fine lines. High in Omegas 6 and 9 and Vitamin E, this protective oil will aid in cell renewal.
Are you one of those people that is forever searching for the Fountain of Youth? Are you worried about aging and the effects that time has on your skin? If so – you may want to consider the impact essential oils can have in terms of anti-aging and wrinkle treatment!

And even though you may not want to dive headfirst into that fountain, we certainly can do a few things to help slow down the hands of time.

Certain oils have incredibly powerful effects on our skin and can help moisturize and enhance our complexion. But the key is to use the right essential oil. Ginger essential oil is definitely a top choice when it comes to controlling nausea. Studies have shown Ginger to be successful in relieving uneasy stomachs, dizziness, fatigue, and vomiting.
There have even been some great results when using this incredible oil post-surgery to reduce nausea caused by medications.
In addition, there are several natural motion sickness pills made entirely from this incredible spice. Inhalation is the ideal way to use Ginger, but applying the oil to your stomach with a carrier can give that extra sense of calm to a troubled tummy.
This minty oil is known to be refreshing in so many ways, including to the digestive tract. It helps fight headaches, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. This is one of the best essential oils for nausea or stomach problems.
Peppermint oil is antispasmodic for the gastric lining, which keeps the stomach from overreacting. Research has shown it to be effective in dealing with the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Peppermint Oil is also beneficial in reducing vomiting post-chemotherapy.
Like Ginger, this oil is effective when inhaled, but can also be applied to the stomach with a carrier oil. Alternatively, you can apply the pre-mixed blend to pulse points and inhale as needed.
The uplifting, fresh scent of Lemon Essential Oil is also a fabulous option for nausea. This zesty oil is said to be one of the best for morning sickness.
In one major study, Lemon oil proved to decrease queasiness and vomiting by 26.5% the first day. In the days following, the pregnant women reported even better control of their symptoms with an extreme reduction in retch intensity.
Lemon oil is also helpful for nausea or upset stomach during labor. In addition, this oil can give you the mental alertness and energy you need to get through childbirth.
Besides pregnancy, Lemon is a great supporting oil for any nausea blend you create.
This sweet, soft, apple-like scent is amazing for calming in general. Chamomile’s antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties soothe your mind and body. Chamomile tea has been used for centuries to ease an upset stomach.
We can utilize its more potent counterpart, Chamomile Essential Oil for the same reasons. Simply mixing two drops of either Roman or German Chamomile oil into a carrier oil and applying topically to the affected area can improve the spasms and control vomiting. The gentle scent should also help relax your mind.
This spicy oil is incredible for reducing symptoms that come along with nausea or vomiting. Gas, bloating, heartburn, and digestive issues are common when you are sick to your stomach.
Fennel Essential Oil’s therapeutic properties include antispasmodic, stomachic, and laxative. This means that it can aid in reducing abdominal spasms, help bowel movements, and relieve indigestion. Overall, it can help keep the stomach healthy. This is very important when dealing with nausea.
We’ve all experienced it before… that queasy feeling. When your stomach is uneasy, and you feel nauseous, you just want it to go away.
Whether it’s motion sickness, a hangover, side effects from medication, or even morning sickness, you really cannot function until it’s gone.
Thankfully there are ways to help alleviate that feeling naturally with those good friends hiding in your cabinet, essential oils.
Simply inhaling certain oils, can help tame that tummy and put you on even ground. Many can even help with other issues that arise like dizziness and vomiting.

Can You Use Essential Oils For An Upset Stomach?
Essential oils can do a lot of wonderful things – their therapeutic benefits are well documented. Plus, they just smell amazing – a great alternative to your typical fragrances like wax melts, candles, etc. – things that could put off harmful toxins when burned.
But what about using essential oils for an upset stomach? Is there any way to alleviate nausea using your favorite essential oil blend?
The good news is yes! There are certain essential oils that can certainly help you curb your stomachache and get back to enjoying life – whether you’re at home relaxing or on the go with your friends.
However, you can’t just grab any essential oil and hope it will fix you up – you need to use the right products.
In this guide, we’re going to share the best essential oils for an upset stomach so that you have a clear plan of action at the end.
Can You Put Essential Oils Directly On Your Upset Stomach?
There are so many different ways you can attain the benefits of essential oils – but when it comes to an upset stomach in particular, how should you apply these? Directly to your stomach?
This is sort of a personal preference thing – you can certainly diffuse these or ingest them (assuming the essential oil you have is safe for consumption).
But, for an upset stomach, in particular, massaging the essential oils directly onto your belly is the best approach.
Your skin has pores, and these pores will allow the oil to get through into your body and be distributed to where it needs to go.
Keep in mind that you need to dilute your essential oils prior to ingesting or applying to your skin, though! We’ll discuss this more in-depth later on.
Mix Your Own Nausea Blend
These essential oils will be great on their own, and just one of these might be all it takes to clear up your stomachache.
But if you want to start feeling better as quickly as possible, we encourage you to use an essential oil blend – either one you purchase here on our site or one you create using each individual essential oil listed below:
3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
2 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
1 Drop Ginger Essential Oil
This is a base blend that can be used in a diffuser or added to a carrier oil for topical application. This blend is safe for inhalation during pregnancy, but not while nursing.
We want to quickly make you aware that peppermint oil can reduce milk supply. If you are breastfeeding, you may switch out Fennel for Peppermint which will actually encourage a greater milk supply.

There are four essential oils in particular that you can lean on the next time menopause symptoms strike. We are going to start with one of our personal favorites as it pertains to menopause – clary sage.
Seriously though, this oil is really a woman’s best friend. This amazing herbal oil benefits a woman in all stages of her life, and especially when dealing with menopause.
Great for balancing emotions, Clary Sage can help ease irritability and anxiety and improve your mood. In fact, one study showed that menopausal women experienced anti-depressant effects after inhaling Clary Sage Oil.
In addition, the results of smelling this oil also reduced the stress hormone (cortisol) levels by 36%, which in the long term can prevent weight gain as well. A drop in estrogen production causes many menopause symptoms including hot flashes.
Clary Sage helps balance estrogen levels. When used as a preventative measure, it can help lessen the frequency and severity of hot flashes.
This peppy oil is a great addition to your collection when you are experiencing the many signs of this transitional stage.
Brain fog, lack of focus, and exhaustion often accompany menopause; and Peppermint Essential Oil is the perfect choice for fighting these issues.
This powerful and uplifting oil can encourage energy, clear thinking, and even boost your mood! Simply inhaling Peppermint can enhance focus, alertness, and concentration.
Studies have shown that it can even help with the accuracy of memory and improved exercise performance. Another way that Peppermint can be super helpful during this time is to use it as a cooling method.
When those hot flashes do breakthrough, this menthol-containing oil is amazing for putting out that fire. A simple spray made of Peppermint oil and water could really cool you down when used topically during the flash.
Two huge issues that arise during menopause are mood swings and insomnia. Lavender oil is incredible at combating both of these.
As you probably already know, Lavender Essential Oil is one of the best choices for calming. It is one of the most researched oils and has proven to soothe the central nervous system, regulate heart rate, and reduce blood pressure.
In cases of insomnia, Lavender has shown in studies to improve quality and duration of sleep, as well as better mental and physical health and daytime wakefulness.
In situations of unease and mood stability, Lavender has proven in studies to greatly improve anxiety in postpartum mothers and dental patients.
In addition, neuroimaging has shown that inhalation of Lavender has a relaxing effect (especially on women). To take advantage of this incredible oil, simply diffuse at night or add a few drops to an unscented lotion and apply at bedtime.
This floral oil is very similar to Rose but much more affordable. Geranium Essential Oil is another wonderful oil that is really beneficial for women in general but could definitely be useful for symptoms of menopause.
Geranium, like Lavender, is great for stabilizing mood and promoting emotional wellness. It is also a good choice when dealing with low libido.
A blend of Geranium, Lavender, Fennel, and Rose oils showed in a 2017 study that aromatherapy can increase the sexual function of menopausal women.
In a separate study, when Geranium oil was used in a weekly massage, it decreased pain, depression, and hot flashes for women in this age group. Because of these results, one of the best ways to use Geranium Essential Oil is to apply topically daily mixed with a carrier or lotion.
Going through menopause can really affect a woman physically and emotionally. The range of symptoms that result from this life change vary but most often include hot flashes, low libido, mood swings, and trouble sleeping.
The hormonal fluctuations could really keep you from feeling like yourself. And the worst part about it is that this phase of your life could last a whole decade!
This means that it is very important to find a healthy way to control the issues so you can go on being the strong and wonderful woman that you are. Many people believe that they need to turn to hormone replacement therapy, but Essential Oils can actually help tackle many of the problems naturally.
In this complete guide, we’re going to explain how you can use essential oil to combat menopause symptoms. We’ll list a few of our favorite recommendations, and explain where you should apply them for the highest healing potential. Let’s not waste any time!

Let’s talk facts. Which specific products have actually proven to help keep bugs at bay?
There have been many studies done over the years to help show what natural plant extracts might really work to repel insects. So, let’s go over the details.
Not to be confused with the two separate oils, Lemon and Eucalyptus, Lemon Eucalyptus is a specific type of Eucalyptus plant known as Eucalyptus citriodora.
The lemon-scented gum plant is very high in citronellol which has proven to be effective in driving away bugs.
This oil also contains para-menthane 3, 8 diols also known as PMD which is the only plant-based repellent advocated for use by the CDC.
Technically, the Essential Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus is not registered with the EPA and only contains a small amount of PMD, while the artificially boosted oil of Lemon Eucalyptus or OLE contains about 60% PMD and is proven to work at repelling bugs for up to 8 hours.
The lemon eucalyptus oil itself is volatile to oxygen and does not last as long, so it has shown to only be effective for about 1 hour. Fortunately, there are ways to extend the life of the oil which we will get to later.
Cedarwood Oil is specifically helpful for repelling fleas, ants, and ticks. In one study, Cedarwood Essential Oil was placed between ants and their food source, and the ants were driven in the other direction.
In addition, the component cedrol has been helpful to eliminate ticks in studies. When high doses of cedrol were exposed to black-legged tick nymphs, the results were fatal.
Geraniol, the main component of Geranium oil, has proven to be effective in repelling a wide range of insects.
It has been the topic of many studies, showing over and over again that it provides powerful protection.
In one study, testing indoor and outdoor efficiency while being diffused, it proved over 95% repellency at 3 meters. Other studies have shown that Geraniol is great for deterring termites, lice, and flies.
In a separate study on 4 tick species, a plant-based repellent containing 5% Geraniol kept over 95% of the ticks away for up to 3 and a half hours. The levels of Geraniol and Citronellol are slightly higher in the Rose Geranium variety.
This pleasant-smelling oil has a very specific job when used to repel insects. Not, because it keeps the bugs away, but rather because it extends the life of the other essential oils used in the blend.
Just a 5% dilution of vanillin could prolong the life of the volatile oils by up to 8 hours. This is incredibly helpful as the effects of the essential oil only last about an hour on their own.
But if you’re looking for a blend of some of the top essential oil products all in one concoction, then you have got to learn about Bugs Away.
It’s a beautiful warm day, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining and you have decided to have a picnic.
You find your perfect area of grass, have a yummy lunch and get all set up. When out of nowhere, here they come… the bugs! Buzzing in your ear, landing on your skin, and biting you. UGH! Bugs can be such a pain!
One of the greatest things you can do for yourself and your family is to use natural products when they are available and effective.
Choosing to use a natural insect repellent on the ones you love may be something you desire, but how do you know what products you can trust to keep your family safe?
The good news is that there are many oils that have been proven to adequately aid in protecting you from invading insects.
Can You Really Use Essential Oils As Insect Repellent?
If you love being outside as much as we do, then you probably deal with your fair share of bug bites. Mosquito repellent doesn’t always work, and when it does, you’re still left with that nasty bug spray smell that nobody wants to carry around with them.
This begs the question, can you really use essential oil as a natural insect repellent?
The answer is yes – there are quite a few oils that can help repel and deter insects from giving you grief when you step outside next.
Many of your favorite oils actually have the ability to repel bugs – you just might not have known it, until now!
We’re not going to take up any more of your time – let’s get right into which oils we recommend you use if you’re looking to create your own natural insect or mosquito repellent.
All these oils we’ve shared thus far have natural insect repellent abilities on their own and can be used to help keep the bugs at bay.
But in the interest of keeping things simple for you, and helping you get the most bang for your buck, consider Bugs Away Essential Oil Blend or Spray.
It contains many of the awesome oils we’ve listed today, like lemon eucalyptus, catnip, vanilla, cedarwood, and more – combined with fractionated coconut oil.
Together, these oils make insect problems a thing of the past – helping you spend time outside with your friends, family, or all on your own – without the hassle of swatting at bugs every few seconds! If you want to keep things simple, this is the product for you.
Achieve Synergistic Efficiency With Your Homemade Mosquito Repellent
Synergy is defined as an outcome having a combined greater effect than the sum of all its parts. This applies to holistic aromatherapy very often as we know that using two or more oils in a blend creates a compounding effect that is better than using just one Essential Oil.
This same rule applies to creating a natural bug blend. Utilizing a few different essential oils that are good for repelling insects may increase the effectiveness because of its synergistic effect.
Adding an essential oil that is high in Geraniol with an essential oil that contains PMD and an essential oil rich in citronellol could offer much greater protection against pesky bugs.
Best Carrier Options for Essential Oil Insect Repellents
How you prepare your natural repellent can be just as important as the oils you use. As mentioned earlier, essential oils are very volatile and dissipate quickly once they are exposed to oxygen.
Studies have been performed to see how one can elongate the life of the oil to increase protection. One study showed that adding the oil to a cream base extended the repellency to 2-3 hours instead of 20-60 minutes.
Lauric acid is saturated fat found in Fractionated Coconut Oil that has proven to fend off fleas, ticks, and more.
In addition, coconut oil creates a stabilizing effect for the essential oils used in the mixture, thus making it a great choice for a base ingredient. Also, a study out of India found that adding just 2% of Neem Oil to Fractionated Coconut Oil kept volunteers protected from bites up to 12 hours.
If you choose to create a spray-style bug repellent, you could make it water-based, but you might consider adding vanilla or carrier oil to help extend the protection time.
In general, though, you will have to re-apply more often than with an oil or cream-based recipe. Also, remember that essential oils and water do not mix, so at least 25% of your recipe should include high-proof alcohol to solubilize the mixture.
How Do You Make Insect Repellent With Essential Oils?
If you really want to unlock the power of synergism capable with these essential oil products, consider buying them individually and creating your own concoction at home!
By mixing these together with a carrier oil, you’ll truly unlock all the benefits they have to offer. Here is a recipe you can follow.
Put all of the drops of essential oil into the bottom of the bottle, swirl to mix together. Add the Neem Oil and Coconut Oil and close the lid. Roll around in hands to combine thoroughly. Apply oil generously to skin (avoiding clothing) before going outside in buggy areas.
Of course, if you are not wanting to make your own, REVIVE has you covered with our Bugs Away Outdoor Spray. This protective spray utilizes many of the oils we just discussed and is ready for use when you want to enjoy the outdoors without the hassle of obnoxious insects.
Final Thoughts On Using Essential Oils As Insect Repellent
Now that you know you can in fact use some of your favorite natural essential oils as insect repellents, all that is left to do is grab your oils and mix them together in a spray bottle.
From there, you have your very own NATURAL mosquito repellent that will allow you to enjoy the great outdoors without worrying about bug bites.
Or, you can save yourself the time and hassle and instead just grab a spray bottle of Bugs Away – the best natural mosquito repellent currently out there.
If you can bring your diffuser outside with you, then diffusing these on your patio or balcony will offer similar effects of a citronella candle – creating a peaceful ambiance free of pesky little bugs!
Welcome to the new normal. As we all navigate down this unprecedented path, we are finding many things are changing. Spending more time in your home can be difficult and different. Fortunately, we can use that time to be productive, have fun, and practice self care.
There are many activities you can do to keep busy, but have you thought about utilizing your Essential Oil collection to enhance those things? Essential Oils can be a wonderful addition to most things that you do because they add in a whole other sense to your experience. Unless, we are cooking, burning a candle, or maybe gardening, our sense of smell is not always a central part of what we are doing. But adding scent into sight, sound, and touch can be an incredible way to boost your actions. Here are some positive ideas to keep you occupied that are even better with Aromatherapy.

Have a Spa Day
You definitely deserve a little pampering, and we know taking a trip to your favorite spa is not an option right now, so… create one at home! Believe it or not, many of those relaxing treatments can be done on your own. Some indulgent ideas might be as simple as cutting some cucumbers to place over your eyes while you lay on the couch and run the super calming Zen Essential Oil Blend in your Halo Diffuser. Or trading hand massages with your significant other using an unscented lotion mixed with a few drops of Connection Essential Oil Blend. Here is a simple recipe for a home foot soak that is perfect for the end of a long hard day.
Add Essential Oils to carrier oil in glass container and mix well, stir in sugar until wet throughout. Run about 1 foot deep of warm water in bathtub or add to plastic tub. To use: soak feet in tub to dampen and soften, pull feet out one at a time and massage scrub all over surface of skin (paying extra attention to rough areas). Soak feet again as long as desired to feel soothed and refreshed.

Feed Your Soul
We are all feeling extra stressed, worried, and worn out right now. It can be trying for our minds and bodies. That is why it is really important to remember self care, but also find ways to boost your well-being and feed your soul. As a society, we often get those reassurances from our friends and families. A warm embrace or gentle touch from a loved one may not be an option right now, so we need to turn inside and nurture ourselves in other ways. Meditation and self reflection can be incredibly beneficial for working through thoughts and emotions and even opening up to new ideas. Adding Aromatherapy to this special quiet time can aid in a higher level of connection and promote mindfulness.
Pour alcohol into bottle, add Essential Oils and swirl to mix then fill to top with water. Shake gently and mist over crown before you meditate to help ground you and open your mind.
Get Physical
We all know how important exercise is for our health and wellness, but it can be extremely beneficial at this time when you are not active at all outside of the home. The added steps we take when we are running errands or walking around our workplace are not happening anymore. We need to make adjustments to assure we are still getting physical. If you have a home gym, this could be an easy task, but might not be as simple for others. Sit ups on the living room floor or watching a workout video can be good ideas. Another great option is yoga as it is wonderful for connecting the body and mind. The physical poses are amazing for challenging and stretching your figure while it simultaneously reduces tension and encourages spiritual balance.
If you are having a hard time getting motivated to get physical while sheltering at home, you could always use Essential Oils to give you a boost. The blend below was created based on two different studies done that showed these oils, especially when used together can reduce fatigue and improve exercise performance.
Now, without any further ado, we’re going to share the best essential oils for bug bites. These will work great to soothe itchy, irritated skin the next time a bug snacks on you – whether it’s a mosquito or chigger, or any other annoying pest.
In terms of actually using these essential oil products, we’ll share a great way to blend them all together for an amazing, itch-relief concoction at the end.
As you know, this incredibly useful oil is great for soothing your mind, but it is also amazing for soothing skin.
Lavender Essential Oil contributes all of the properties you need when dealing with a bite or sting from an insect.
This versatile oil relieves pain by calming the nerve response under your skin. It reduces swelling by fighting inflammation and it helps heal the bite by preventing infection.
All of these things are important when you are treating a wound of any sort. In addition, Lavender oil is super gentle. This means that it is a great choice for kids, the elderly, and dogs too.
Note: Chamomile has the same properties and may be used in place of or in addition to Lavender. If you prefer the scent of this essential oil instead, you’re welcome to give it a shot!
One key thing you need to pay attention to when dealing with a bite or a sting is making sure that it does not get infected.
This is where Tea Tree can be very helpful. The incredible antifungal and antimicrobial properties of this oil make it a perfect choice for preventing infection.
In addition, Tea Tree essential oil helps fight the histamine reaction that happens in your body.
A successful study on this Australian plant showed that it can effectively reduce inflammation and block the histamine in only 10 minutes. This basically neutralizes the poison and calms the redness and pain very quickly.
In knowing that the main reason a bug bite hurts is due to the body’s inflammatory response, it is best to try to control that.
Rosemary is a powerhouse anti-inflammatory and analgesic. This herbal oil can ease irritation very well by reducing swelling and soothing discomfort.
One study showed that patients who used Rosemary oil on shoulder pain reduced their agony by 30%. A separate animal study demonstrated that this pain-relieving oil worked better than acetaminophen. Rosemary oil is also loaded with antioxidants which encourages healing.
Peppermint oil is an excellent choice for bug bites because it can eliminate itchiness. It instantly has a cooling effect (due to its menthol content), which is ideal for the burning feeling you often get from a bite or sting.
This oil has proven to safely and effectively soothe and even numb an itch. In a study of pregnant women suffering from Pruritis (constant belly itch during pregnancy), Peppermint greatly reduced the level of itch the women experienced.
Additionally, this powerful oil is amazing for deterring bugs as well, so if you are using it for a current bite, it may prevent new ones from happening. Peppermint Essential Oil can be very strong and works wonders at a low dilution rate of only 1%.
All these essential oils are great for bug bites – but what if you could prevent insect problems in the first place?
That’s where our Bugs Away essential oil blend comes in. This product contains a few different essential oils blended into one handy concoction to help deter any insects in the first place!
By simply spraying or rubbing a few drops onto/into your skin before heading outside, you’ll do wonders to repel any hungry insects that are just waiting to feast on you.
If you’re hanging out on your patio or balcony, consider bringing your diffuser outside with you and letting it run to keep the bugs away from you and your friends while you enjoy the great outdoors.
Don’t have time to make your own DIY? We’ve gone through the hassel for you by formulating Bugs Be Gone Insect Repellent!
An effective bug repellent without DEET, parabens, preservatives, petrochemicals, and synthetic ingredients.
When it comes to preventing bug bites in the first place, nothing beats our Bugs Away Essential Oils and Bugs Be Gone Insect Repellent!
When it comes to injury from insects, you really want to focus on soothing the pain and reducing swelling as quickly as possible.
Choosing a carrier that is just as an anti-inflammatory as your Essential Oils will really help you amp up the pain relief.
You could create a ready-made roller ball blend that is there for you whenever you need it. Simply mix a very gentle, balancing oil like Jojoba with your chosen essential oils and keep it in your roller bottle for when the bugs strike.
Another option could be doing a quick, on-the-spot treatment with a cotton pad. Adding a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil and a teaspoon of witch hazel to the cotton and pressing it onto the irritated area could calm the misery in a hurry.
A wonderful choice would be Aloe Vera Gel because it is cooling and helps to reduce redness and inflammation. It also has antibacterial properties to help prevent infection and heal the skin.

Before you get into our very favorite essential oil crafts, we need to talk about safety – especially if you’re going to be crafting with the kids.
Staying Safe While Making Essential Oil Crafts With The Kids
First things first, let’s talk safety. When using Essential Oils with kids, you have to ensure that you are using kid-safe oils.
Citrus oils are a great choice because they are safe for children but also encourage feelings of cheer and happiness.
One of our favorites is REVIVE’s Citrus Delight. This is a blend of citrus and vanilla that can help you feel refreshed and uplifted.
There are a few other gentle oils you could consider using, such as:
Lavender
Geranium
Cedarwood
Marjoram
Spruce
Pine
Another appropriate option could be REVIVE’s Stress Easy which is kid-safe, but also a super calming blend that may be very helpful right now.
No matter which you end up going with, the collection of organic essential oils we offer here at Revive is as good as you’ll find – so once you’ve picked your project, head over to the site for all your essentials!
First, let’s talk carrier oils and other safety tips.
Don’t Forget Your Carrier Oils!
The next thing you want to remember is to always take care to dilute your essential oil when children are using them. As you know, they are very potent and can be harsh for a little one.
Don’t allow your younger kids to handle the bottle to add the drops to your essential oil project; instead, let the child count them as you add the oil to the recipe.
In addition, no matter what their age, it is recommended that the Essential Oil be added to the carrier oil before handling it with your hands/skin.
Some of our favorite carrier oils are tea tree oil, fractionated coconut oil, or jojoba oil. The perfect carrier for you will definitely depend on what you’re crafting – so do your research, or follow the recipes we share later on carefully!
Also, you should protect the surface that you are working on with a barrier of some sort; a disposable plastic tablecloth or a large tray should work just fine.
Now that we’ve got the safety precautions out of the way, let’s get to the good part. Below, you will find 3 DIY projects that are appropriate for different age groups.
Let the older kids get creative by making up their own blends to use in the recipe. So. go gather up your supplies and have fun!

Optional: Lavender Buds or Dried Flowers of Choice
In a bowl, mix together coconut oil and essential oils. Stir in sugar and flower buds if using. Scoop into the jar and close tightly. To use: Apply in circles to damp skin to gently exfoliate and calm your mind.

Who doesn’t love a bath? Feeling weightless in a giant tub of warm water can be both relaxing and refreshing.
Taking a bath is a wonderful way to help shut out the world around you and just focus on some much-needed alone time, but most people look for ways to enhance this experience.
Sometimes that’s adding bubbles, a bath bomb, lighting some candles – or our personal favorite, adding a few drops of essential oil!
Using essential oils during a bath can enhance the experience by making it even more restorative. But how do you go about this?
That’s where we come in. Today, we’re going to teach you everything you need to know about creating an essential oil blend for your next bathtime – whether it’s for you or your kids!
We’ll share some carrier oil & essential oil options we recommend, along with a few essential oil recipes you can try for yourself. Let’s dive right in!
How To Use Essential Oils In Bath
Using essential oils in the bath is just as simple as using any other product you might have added in the past – Epsom salts, bubbles, you name it. It’s just a matter of determining what recipe you want to use!
This will come down to what you’re looking to get out of the bath – we’ll explain how your specific essential oils and carrier oil factor into that now. Then at the end, we’ll share some of our favorite recipes you can give a try yourself!
One key takeaway we want you to have is that essential oils are fat-soluble and need to be mixed with a carrier before adding to water or they will not disperse correctly. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite carrier oil options.
Which Carrier Oil Should I Use For My Bath Recipe?
When choosing a carrier for your essential oils, you often want to look at your goal. In a bath, you might be wanting to get clean, moisturized, or even attain pain relief.
What you decide to dilute with can also help your outcome. Unscented soap or bubble bath is a great option when you are just looking to foam up a bit and wash the dirt away.
Adding about 5-7 drops of essential oil to 1 tablespoon of soap is safe for children and 10-15 drops for adults.
If you are looking more for replenishing moisture, using a vegetable or seed oil is a great option. Use the same ratio as the soap, but add the essential oils to Sweet Almond Oil or Grapeseed Oil.
After mixing the Essential Oils in with the soap or oil pour it into the stream from the faucet as the bath fills. This will help it all disperse into the water.
If you plan on using salts like Epsom or Sea Salt, you should know that the salts alone do not solubilize the Essential Oils.
It is recommended that you use soap or a carrier oil first and then add your salts to that mixture. This is a great idea for inflammation as salts can be great for calming body aches.
When using Epsom Salts along with an anti-inflammatory oil blend, you can get amazing relief from pain.
Oftentimes, pre-made bath bombs can be a good option as well. Just make sure that they are made utilizing a carrier oil and not just baking soda or cornstarch.
Which Essential Oils Should I Use In The Bath?
Almost any Essential Oils can be used in a bath if you do it the safe way, but some oils are much more irritating to the skin than others. “Hot” oils are not usually the best idea for bathing as they can be harsher and more sensitizing.
This includes Essential Oils like Cinnamon, Clove, or Thyme. If you do choose to use any of these, make sure it’s in a really low dilution. If you plan on using a blend like Protect in the bath to guard against a pending cold, it might be best to only use about 3-5 drops of the blend in your carrier.
For aches and pains, soaking in a tub with anti-inflammatory Essential Oils is a great idea for relieving discomfort caused by sore muscles, backaches, or even joint pain.
One of REVIVE’s absolute favorites for pain is our Sore No More Blend. This cooling and soothing synergy are perfect for taming inflammation.
There are also many single oils that you could use to create your own soreness-busting essential oil blend. Eucalyptus, Ginger, Chamomile, Peppermint, or Thyme are good options to utilize when making your pain-relieving bath blend.
If relaxation is what you seek, several Essential Oils could benefit you while bathing. Calming oils like Lavender, Frankincense, Tangerine, or Cedarwood can be blended or added as single oils to encourage an extra boost of stress relief.
Alternatively, you could use one of REVIVE’s synergy blends that are already created for you. A great money-saving set you could purchase called Worry-Free includes 3 uber relaxing oils. Check out this DIY recipe below.

This soothing blend of Essential Oils contains relaxing oils like Lavender essential oil and Cedarwood essential oil with heart-warming essential oils like Vanilla and Ocotea. It is perfect for easing anxious feelings and encouraging a sense of calm.
Another blend that we love is REVIVE’s Stress Relief. This is a great essential oil synergy to use when you need to ease your body along with your mind. This essential oil makes a great addition to a bath or massage.
Lastly, if you are on the go, Anxiety Ease Roll-on is a great option to bring with you. This essential oil roller can easily be tucked in your pocket or purse and is ready for use when in need of some balance. Simply roll onto pulse points and inhale deeply to help alleviate tension.
Pure Essential Oils That Can Help With Stress And Anxiety
These synergy blends are great – but they’re just one way you can use essential oils for stress and anxiety. There are pure essential oils we recommend you incorporate into your wellness regimen. From bergamot essential oil to ylang ylang essential oils, let’s take a look at all the options.
This sharp citrus oil is a powerhouse when it comes to stress relief. Known to be both a calming and uplifting essential oil, Bergamot can help drive away anxious feelings while boosting your spirits. This Essential Oil is incredibly versatile and smells amazing in so many blends, making it a great addition to your DIY stress-busting creation.
Physically, Bergamot essential oil may help balance the nervous system, regulate heart rate, and lower blood pressure. This means that your mental state will be improved because your physical state is steady.
Bergamot is a top note and blends well with Lavender, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Coriander, and other citrus essential oils just to name a few. Please take care when wearing topically as it is phototoxic and will make your skin sensitive to the sun.
Do not get Clary Sage confused with the Sage that grows in your garden, this variety is not used for cooking. Clary Sage is a medicinal herb that has been used for centuries in skin care and perfumes. This tea-like scent is amazing for easing anxiety and boosting your mood.
Clary Sage is a very balancing oil that calms irritability and is helpful for women’s monthly issues. The high linalyl acetate content of this essential oil has shown in studies to promote calm and relaxation. Clary Sage is a middle note that blends well with citrus essential oils, geranium, jasmine, cedarwood, cardamom, among many others.
This sweet floral essential oil was traditionally used for romance in Indonesia. Make no mistake, though – there is a lot more to this essential oil than just love.
Ylang Ylang essential oil is known to calm blood pressure and heart palpitations, encouraging our body and mind to slow down. Studies have shown that the use of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil in stressful situations can reverse anxiety behaviors.
Adding just a drop of this potent scent to a de-stressing essential oil blend is a great option. This essential oil blends very well with other florals.
This warm and deep essential oil might be pricey, but is worth every penny! Sandalwood is good for soothing agitation, calming emotions, and easing anxious nerves. With its strong sedative properties, Sandalwood essential oil is a classic for enhancing meditation.
A little goes a long way with this essential oil, and because it is very thick, it may work better for topical applications, rather than a diffuser. Just be sure to pair with a carrier oil. This essential oil blends well with other woodsy oils, citrus oils, and some florals like Palmarosa or Rose.
One of the many things that makes Frankincense an astonishing essential oil is its power to calm and ground. Traditionally, Frankincense was used in the church. This is because it helps relax our breathing, causing us to take deeper, purer breaths.
As you can imagine, this is very helpful when experiencing anxiety. Frankincense essential oil is also comforting when dealing with grief. It may even help discourage impending fears. This woody base essential oil goes well with Orange, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Spruce, and so much more.

How To Use Essential Oils For Stress and Anxiety Relief
Now that you know our favorite essential oil blends for stress or anxiety, let’s talk about actually using them. Sure, you can just diffuse essential oils around your home or office to reap their benefits. But actually coming up with a plan to incorporate them into your life can pay dividends.
The CDC recommends eating well-balanced meals, exercising, getting good sleep, and doing activities you enjoy to help eliminate stress and anxiety. Look to eliminate sources of stress. If you have people in your life that stress you out, distance yourself. The same goes for work – if you’re the victim of a toxic workplace causing stress and anxiety, make an occupational change. This in itself can be stressful, but it gets better once you take the leap. Trust us – we’ve been there.
Another very helpful addition to your life is learning how to be mindful of your feelings. Understanding that you are stressed or overwhelmed can encourage you to take the next steps of fighting back against those negative feelings and consciously doing what you can to make it better.
One of the greatest things about Aromatherapy is that it is a complementary therapy. This means that adding Essential Oils to your current routine is both safe and increasingly helpful. For example, you can diffuse the stress-relieving essential oils that we listed above during meditation. This can deepen your spiritual connection.
Or, consider using anxiety-busting essential oils in a hot bath to boost your relaxation. Because essential oil can be absorbed topically, this is another great approach to leveraging the calming power of essential oils.
There are so many different ways you can incorporate essential oil into your mental wellness regimen. However you approach it, one thing is for sure – you need to make sure you’re using 100% therapeutic essential oils. And we know just the place to find them.

How To Make Your Own DIY Essential Oils Moisturizer
During the winter months, the mixture of cold, crisp air and all the preventative hand washing can really make your skin dry, rough, or even cracked. It’s important to retain moisture for the sake of comfort, but also to maintain a strong skin structure that keeps germs from entering damaged areas.
You might be thinking about picking up a lotion from the drugstore when you are shopping, but did you ever take the time to read the ingredients in there? You probably can’t even pronounce half of them let alone know what they are. Here’s a little hint… some of them are toxic!
Phthalates, parabens, and petrochemicals, oh my! How can these be good for your dry skin? Let’s do this the safe way: skip the drugstore and make your own DIY essential oil moisturizing product.
There are a few incredible Essential Oils that can be added to your DIY moisturizer to further nourish your skin. These oils are calming, anti-inflammatory, and can even encourage cell regeneration. Adding a few drops of these skin-loving oils to specific carrier oils may help boost the healing powers of the moisturizer you are using.
There are basically 3 different types of moisturizers that you can create based on your needs. and in this article, we’ll cover them all. Let’s start with the case for using essential oil as a moisturizer!
Can I Use Essential Oils As A Moisturizer?
Yes – you can use essential oils as a moisturizer! In fact, when made correctly, there are a few DIY blends that offer incredible moisturizing properties. There are certain versions you can concoct for certain skin conditions. Or, you can just use essential oil to moisturize naturally dry skin during those winter months.
Whatever the case, we’re going to help you understand when and how to use essential oil as a moisturizer.
The base part of your moisturizer is determined by what you are trying to achieve. Do you need to fully saturate your skin and let it cover you and just soak in? Or are you looking for a thick spot treatment that will heal and protect the one really bad area? We’ll begin by examining the different carrier oil options you can use.
Start By Choosing The Carrier For Your Essential Oil Moisturizing Blend
The three main types of “carriers” you have to choose from when creating a moisturizer from essential oils. They are nut/seed oil, lotion, or a balm/salve. But, which one is right for you?
Nut or Seed Oil
Using a rich carrier oil as your main ingredient is great for covering a large area or really drenching the skin. It is also a wonderful option for locking in hydration right out of the shower. They are full of vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids. Simply adding your essential oils of choice to your carrier oil and spreading the mixture onto the skin will soothe the dryness.
Jojoba Oil mimics skin’s sebum and soaks in quickly making this a good choice for hands because it won’t leave them greasy. Almond Oil is an emollient and contains high levels of vitamin E. It’s nourishing and conditioning making it great for very dry skin. Later on, we’ll share a recipe that features Jojoba oil and sweet almond oil – because these are our favorites.
But, you have other options, too. Avocado oil is a mega antioxidant that is loaded with omega 3 fatty acids. It is a great anti-inflammatory making it good for healing skin. Other options include coconut oil or argan oil.
Lotion
An obvious option for dry skin is an unscented, natural lotion. This is a perfect choice for moisturizing your skin for a few reasons.
The key to picking a lotion, though, is making sure it is not full of unwanted chemicals or harmful ingredients. Mixing essential oils into the softening lotion is a great way to up the restorative properties of the lotion. You only need about 1-2% dilution of Essential Oils to get the desired effects.
Balm or Salve
Much thicker and sturdier in nature, a balm or salve is usually wax-based and stays in place for a while providing a protective layer. This is a superb option for spot treatment. Cuticles, eczema, rough patches, and elbows are places that may need a little more healing power and longer-term coverage to keep it from getting worse.
What Essential Oil Can I Add To Moisturizer?
Now – we’re going to talk about the essential oil component of your homemade moisturizer. Just like with your carrier oil, the specific essential oil you choose will depend on what specific benefits you’re looking to attain.
Do you have naturally oily skin? If so, the products you choose will differ from someone with super dry skin. Are you looking for moisturization, or do you have a flare-up that you’re looking to calm down? We’ll cover specific recommendations below.
Lavender
Of course, you know that Lavender is calming, but this includes the skin and not just the mind. It is a very restorative oil that can help soothe irritated or even burned skin and promote healing. Lavender Essential Oil is also very gentle and a great oil for young and old.
Chamomile
This incredible Essential Oil is a great anti-inflammatory. This means that when your hands are chapped and inflamed from being very dry, it can help calm the swelling. It is also wonderful for people with sensitive skin.
Geranium
This floral oil is perfect for balancing the skin’s sebum allowing your body to produce the correct amount of oil it needs. It is good for easing irritation and may prevent scars from forming.
Frankincense
The king of oils is useful for so many things, but we absolutely love it for skin applications. It is known to help improve cellular function and has rejuvenating effects.
Each variation of Frankincense essential oil is good for skin, but Boswellia frereana is an extra powerful skin healer, so we also recommend our Frankincense King Essential Oil Blend.
DIY Soothing Essential Oil Moisturizer Blend
Now, using these oils above here is a DIY essential oil moisturizer blend you can try for yourself. All of these essential oils are available right here at revive, along with the carrier oils you need as well. Here are the ingredients:
In a glass bowl, mix all the ingredients well. Use a funnel to pour the mixture into the bottle, then place the cap on. Apply liberally to dry skin as needed. This recipe is great for post-shower/bath. When applying to hands, allow the oil to sink in before using them.
Optional: Use ½ oz of Rosehip Seed Oil and 1 ½ oz Sweet Almond Oil for an added boost in cell regeneration (great for mature skin).

The 6 Best Essential Oils DIY Gifts Of The Year
Whether you’re shopping for a friend or family member, guy or girl, old or young – you’ll find a gift idea that works for them below. We’re going to start with something practical and thoughtfully – an essential oil blend for those with beards!
1. Beard Oil
Do you know a man who is working on growing that full and perfect beard? Why not put together a nice little gift that he will actually use… a fantastic smelling and nourishing beard oil.
This blend of carrier oils and essential oils can actually help stimulate hair growth and condition the beard at the same time. You can feel free to play around with the scent a bit, but here are some guidelines to go by.
Add all ingredients to a small glass bowl and mix well. Use a funnel to pour the blend into the glass bottle. Create a little note of ingredients if desired and tie with a ribbon to the bottle neck for gifting.
2. Stress Ball
Teachers can be hard to buy for. You may not always get to know them that well throughout the year, but many times you would like to offer them a small gift of thanks during the holidays. One thing that we can assume is that they carry a lot of stress. Here is a fun gift idea that you can actually create with your child to give to their teacher that will help them manage stress levels by actively squeezing the ball and inhaling the calming oils.
1 heavy-duty balloon
A small funnel
About 1/2 Cup of Flour
10-15 drops of your favorite stress blend (we love REVIVE’s Stress Easy)
Stretch the balloon a bit by blowing it up to about twice its original size. Wrap balloon tightly around the base of the funnel. In a glass bowl, combine flour and essential oils, stir together. Once it is well mixed, use a spoon to scoop flour into funnel until the balloon is as full as you like. Some people prefer them to be very round, while others like them to be more squishy. Tie the balloon tightly and cut the end off if desired.
3. Relaxing Bubble Bath
This is such a luxurious gift idea that is perfect for any bath lover that you know. It’s actually a very easy recipe that creates a wonderfully soothing and useful bubble bath. If you can find a pretty glass bottle with a pump, it makes it look extra special.
A 10 or 12 oz glass bottle (a pump is helpful)
1 Cup Liquid Castile Soap
¼ Cup Vegetable Glycerin (this helps create bubbles)
Mix all of the ingredients together in a glass bowl, then pour into the bottle and cap it. Feel free to add a label with instructions that say “Put 2-3 pumps of bubble bath directly into the stream of the warm bath water as the tub is filling, then sit back and enjoy a little R&R.”
4. Candy Cane Soap
I bet you never thought you could make soap! It is so simple when you use a melt and pour base. There are many different varieties like goat’s milk, shea butter, or even aloe vera. When you make these adorable holiday soaps, no one will ever know that it was just a few easy steps.
Silicone Mold of your choice (a holiday theme shape would be cute)
Chop the soap base into chunks and place in a measuring cup. Microwave per product directions then add in essential oils and stir gently. Pour into mold and cool until hardened. Once ready, wrap with brown craft paper or tie with a festive ribbon.
5. Muscle Relief Oil
Everyone you know has probably had soreness and muscle tightness at some point. Whether it’s from working out, stress, or unusual physical activity, it’s really nice to be able to get some natural relief. A DIY massage oil for muscle pain is a great gift idea for anyone on your list.
Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl, pour into a bottle, and screw on the pump. It’s as simple as that! Your recipient can apply to sore muscles as needed for mild pain relief. This thoughtful gift will definitely remind them of you when it makes them feel better after a long, hard day.
6. Cinnamint Plumping Lip Balm
Looking for a unique stocking stuffer idea? This is another one of those awesome practical gifts that is all about essential oils! During the wintertime, we all suffer from dry lips and cracking skin – which is not just painful, but unsightly. That’s why you can’t go wrong with our Cinnamint Plumping Lip Balm.
Simply mix the beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, and almond oil in a clean, glass bowl. Then, put the bowl on the stove on medium heat and allow the ingredients to fully melt. Then, you can turn the heat off and continue stirring the essential oils together.
After you’re satisfied with the mixture, you can pour the connection into your lip balm containers and allow them to cool and harden off. If you’re on a time constraint, put these containers in the fridge – the essential oils will harden quicker.
