Calm the Itch Oat Bath

When skin allergies or dry skin comes around, we know you will do anything for a little itch relief. The good news is that there are some great natural remedies for irritated and itchy skin. This DIY addresses those issues easily with something as simple as a nice relaxing bath. Try this recipe next time you have annoying bug bites, a rash, eczema, or dryness.

What you Need:
Mixing Bowls
1 C Ground Oats
¾ C Milk Powder of Choice (we like Goat)
¼ C Baking Soda
Why these Ingredients?
Oats can help to lower your skin’s PH level which reduces itchiness.
Goat Milk Powder is antioxidant rich and helps to draw moisture to the skin.
Sweet Almond Oil is a thick emollient oil that encourages skin to retain moisture.
Baking soda leaves you silky soft while calming inflammation.
All of these Essential Oils are gentle on skin and help reduce irritation.
How to Make it:
Take 1 cup of unflavored dry oats of your choice (old fashioned, steel cut, or quick) and place them in a blender. Pulse until they become a fine powder. Mix together the ground oats with the milk powder and baking soda, then set aside.
In a small bowl, stir together the Sweet Almond Oil with the Essential Oils and then add them to the dry ingredients. Mix it all together making sure to break up any clumps, then put into an airtight container.
How to Use it:
Fill your bathtub with warm water, making sure it is not too hot (even more drying to the skin). Pour ½ C of the Oat Mixture into the tub.
Soak for 15 to 30 minutes to get the full effect.
